Mrs. Edith Badgett

Obituary Mrs. Edith Frances Dabbs Badgett was born on April 17, 1931 to the late James and Ethel Dabbs in Greensboro, NC. She entered into peaceful eternal rest on Friday morning, July 13, 2012 at the Hospice Home of Rockingham County, with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Roland Cohen bringing the eulogy and burial following in the church cemetery.

Edith was educated in the Rockingham County Schools and was employed at Fieldcrest Mills of Reidsville. She later attended Rockingham Community College, where she received her certification as a CNA. She worked in the medical field helping others until her health declined.

Edith was known as “Sugar” to her loving husband William for 43 years, Mama to all her children and Nanny to her grandchildren whom she cherished dearly. Edith was a faithful member of the Jones Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She was also a faithful member of the Beauty of Reidsville #477-OES for over 45 years. Edith loved flowers and enjoyed collecting antiques.

Including her parents she was preceded in death by: brother; Nathaniel Dabbs, uncle & aunt; Edward and Beatrice Neal, who raised Edith.

Left to cherish her precious memories: husband; William Badgett,of the home, children; Elaine Brooks, Charlotte, NC, David Simpson, Charlotte, NC, Dale Simpson, Charlotte, NC, Eric Badget(April) Greensboro, NC, step-children; William Slade (Diane), Jonesboro, GA, Gentry Brown (Charlene), Lake Mary, FL, sister; Ella Mae Neal, Philadelphia, PA, brother; Charles Dabbs, Baltimore, MD, 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
